In a proactive effort to combat the rising issue of substance abuse among the youth, the Network for Rural Missions (NRM) recently organized a comprehensive sensitization program targeting students in 10 schools, both public and private, in Nakpanduri. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and equip students with the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed choices.

The sensitization sessions were designed to engage students in meaningful discussions about various forms of substance abuse, including alcohol, drugs, and other harmful substances. Through interactive sessions, presentations, and Q&A sessions, students were encouraged to share their thoughts and experiences, fostering an open dialogue about the challenges they face in their environment.

In addition to the in-person sessions, NRM also utilized radio awareness campaigns to reach a broader audience. These radio broadcasts featured experts in the field of mental health, phone-in sessions, and informative segments on the effects of substance abuse. By leveraging the power of radio, NRM aimed to ensure that the message reached not only students but also parents and community members, creating a collective effort to address this pressing issue.

The response from the students and the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Many students expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn about the risks associated with substance abuse and the importance of making healthy choices. Teachers and school administrators also recognized the value of the program, noting that it provided essential information that could help students navigate peer pressure and societal influences.

The organization remains committed to promoting healthy lifestyles among youth in the district and expanding its outreach to other regions.
